What You Need to Know: Custom Plastic Cutting Boards

Plastic cutting boards are a necessary piece of the puzzle when it comes to running a functional commercial kitchen. From durability to easy cleaning, plastic cutting boards have so many benefits. Read along for all the reasons you should need our custom plastic cutting boards and tips on how to order.

Why Are TFMP Custom Plastic Cutting Boards So Durable?

If you aren't familiar with these plastic cutting boards, ours are made from a plastic nicknamed HDPE, formally known as "High Density Polyethylene". We'll keep this explanation simple - High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) cutting boards are engineered for durability, low maintenance, and safety. The textured and matte surface safely holds food in place without slipping. The bright white color gives each board a crisp and clean sanitary look. These cutting boards can also safely withstand temperatures up to 248°F (120°C) for short periods or up to 230°F (110°C.) for long periods.

HPDE is also great because it is softer and won't dull your knives as fast as other materials, which makes slicing and dicing safer for everyone in the kitchen. Because of its unique molecular structure, cuts seal and become indiscernible. With the savings from replacement knives and the durability of our HDPE cutting boards, you'll end up saving big time in the long run.

How to Accurately Measure Your Board

In order to create the perfect custom cutting board you'll need to input the short side and long side lengths for your cutting board. If you aren't familiar with these terms, no worries - we're here to help!

Technically they’re interchangeable but when we ask for short side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the shorter side of the cutting board. When we ask for long side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the longer side of the cutting board. The first drop down for both short side and long should be a whole number while the second drop down should be a fraction. For example, if the cutting board you need measures 10 ½ x 20 ¾, below are the values you should enter in the drop downs:

Short Side: 10
Short Side Fraction: ½
Long Side: 20
Long Side Fraction: ¾

Another example is a board measuring 24 x 60 ⅛, below are the values you should enter in the drop-downs:

Short Side: 24
Short Side Fraction: 0
Long Side: 64
Long Side Fraction: ⅛

Your Options for Creating the Perfect Plastic Cutting Board

We offer 4 edge/corner style variations and they are:

Standard Edge, Standard Corner

Straight edges and straight corners. Looks like most standard cutting boards.

Standard Edge, Rounded Corner

Rounded corners are nice for cutting boards that are handled multiple times a day and moved around. No more poking shins and hips. Great for commercial kitchens.

Rounded Edge, Standard Corner

Rounded edges are great if the board is a bit larger than the countertop. The board can stick out and rub against the body, so rounded edges can relieve the sharpness.

Rounded Edge, Rounded Corner

This is the real deal. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, rounded edges and corners provide the most comfort for those who use cutting boards frequently. Easy to handle, and no pokes!
