If you're searching for a flexible and durable gasket that can easily withstand a wide range of temperatures, then a Custom Santoprene Gasket from TFMP Custom is a no-brainer. Read below for a few tips, tricks, and facts about santoprene gaskets.
What is Santoprene?
It is essentially a plastic that appears and behaves as a rubber. Santoprene is often compared to EPDM rubber but it is a far better choice. One of the major benefits is that it is lighter than EDPM rubber - it boasts a weight reduction of up to 30% for parts with a similar design. Santoprene is a highly durable and long lasting polymer, meaning you get what you pay for with a santoprene gasket.
Why choose TFMP Custom Santoprene Gaskets?
Our OEM-equivalent santoprene gaskets are longer lasting and more durable than our standard PVC gaskets. Santoprene gaskets can withstand temperatures ranging from -50° to 275° degrees Fahrenheit (compared to -20° to 150° degrees Fahrenheit for PVC gaskets). For a gasket that can handle the more extreme temperatures, santoprene is the way to go.
How to Accurately Measure Your Custom Gasket Dimensions
When inputting dimensions for your custom santoprene gasket, You'll have to input dimensions for the "short side" and "long side" of your gasket. Technically they’re interchangeable but when we ask for short side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the shorter side of the gasket. When we ask for long side, we’re looking for the dimensions of the longer side of the gasket. The first drop down for both short side and long should be a whole number while the second drop down should be a fraction. For example, if the gasket you need measures 10 ½ x 20 ¾, below are the values you should enter in the drop downs:
- Short Side: 10
- Short Side Fraction: ½
- Long Side: 20
- Long Side Fraction: ¾
Another example is a gasket measuring 24 x 60 ⅛, below are the values you should enter in the drop-downs:
- Short Side: 24
- Short Side Fraction: 0
- Long Side: 64
- Long Side Fraction: ⅛
